Career Opportunities | Smooth Transition | Transparency, Inclusivity, & Advocacy
Most important, once we are back to in-person lectures, do you want to have the lectures to be still recorded, and put up online on Canvas? Me too, I want to advocate for THAT.

Career Opportunities:
Do you ever ask yourself: how is SUS relevant to you? SUS has had a limiting role in helping students with their career pursuits. But I want to change that, once and for all.
Hosting workshops to help YOU find RESEARCH.
The workshops will bring UBC Researchers, and other Researchers outside of UBC, so YOU can come to network with them.
You want to learn tips about Graduate/Medical/Dentistry school applications?
Then, the workshops will bring current Graduate/Medical/Dentistry students to talk about their experiences.
What if you want to work with your Bachelor's?
Then I want to create workshops that bring people who work in the industry (i.e. immunology, Computer Science, Biotechnology, etc.) to come and chat with YOU!
To help you further: I want to increase the Research Award total money, so more people can get the money!
Also, I will change the selection procedure for the awards, to ensure diversity is fully represented!

Smooth Transition:
We have had an unprecedented year. The pandemic has affected us all. As we go back to on-Campus Life, I want the transition to be as smooth as possible. How?
Making Science Reaction event to include the incoming second-years, who could not attend the event in-person!
Many workshops and events targeted toward Science student's mental health, and effective study strategies.
Social events that target the soul of UBC science.

More Transparency Inclusivity, & Advocacy:
Our Science Undergraduate Society has been criticized of not being transparent enough. Of course, it's true and little has been done to change that. I will target the 3 main issues that plague SUS: Transparency, Inclusivity, and Advocacy.
Transparency:
Having Town Hall meetings whereby YOU can come and ask what the SUS Executives have been doing, and hold them accountable.
Record and share all the information about SUS on the SUS website immediately and updating it to ensure science students can access what SUS has been doing.
Creating a new committee that addresses Transparency of the SUS.
Inclusivity:
Changing the SUS hiring structure to encourage the involvement of more first and second year science students.
Whenever we advertise for SUS events, I want to make sure that the Executives do so in person!
Increasing and expanding the current committee (BIPOC) to implement more effective changes against systemic racism, and to make SUS more inclusive.
Advocacy:
Your representation is very important to me, and I will make sure that I will advocate for YOUR interests in SUS.
I will do monthly polls from all Science Students to see what YOU want SUS to do, and what SUS needs to get done!
